So, you’re on the fence about whether or not the KimFit 6-week strength and conditioning course for runners is for you. Read on and I will hopefully answer any questions you may be asking.

I’ve only been running for a few weeks; will the course be too advanced for me?

Absolutely not! S+C for runners is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced runners. The training we will do every week can be made easier or harder depending on the need of the athlete. Don’t be shy, come along and get ahead of the curve for your next race.

When is the course?

Tuesdays at 7:30pm. There will be six sessions in total which will run on 1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th August and 5th, 12th September.

And where will it be held?

This is an outdoor course. It will be held in Victoria Park (near where the hot air balloons go up). We will meet every week at the Approach Golf Course.

How will this course make me a better runner?

Good question, may I refer you to my recent blog 11 reasons why runners should do strength and conditioning training.

I’m a pretty decent and experienced runner. I’m worried this course won’t be advanced enough for me.

Let me prove you wrong! You may be able to run circles around me but I can assure you that if you’re new to strength training then you’ll certainly be feeling the effects! We’ll also work on mobility, injury prevention and high-intensity training methods to add more dimensions to your existing training.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself, a pair of decent running shoes and an open mind.

 How much is the course?

It is £45 for the 6-weeks. This is a one-off payment, and tickets are available here: https://billetto.co.uk/en/e/kimfit-6-week-strength-and-conditioning-for-runners-tickets-207302?ref=billetto-search This breaks down to £7.50 a week, less than coffee and a cake!

I can’t make all six classes. Can I come to just five?

Yes. Please get in touch with me by emailing thekimfitway@gmail.com. You’ll need to buy a normal ticket but I will refund you the class you can’t make*.

*limited to 1/6 classes only.

You’re a skeleton athlete not a runner. How can you help me?

I may not run the way that you do but prior to becoming a full-time athlete I worked for four years as a sports scientist alongside elite endurance athletes, some whom went on to compete at the Rio Olympics. I want to share with you the habits of high performing athletes so that you’re running can also improve. My current job, as a skeleton athlete has also equipped me with many tools to maximise performance including injury prevention strategies and running technique work that is transferable to you.

I am a fun runner. Do I really need to learn this stuff?

Running for recreation and health is awesome, but who doesn’t want more PB’s and fewer injuries! Strength and conditioning isn’t limited to elite athletes – everyone can and should benefit. Over the course of 6-weeks you’ll learn how to look after your body to reduce risk of injury and aid longevity. You’ll also learn how to become a stronger athlete capable of quicker times. Don’t put a ceiling on yourself, train smart!

How do I buy a ticket?

Click the link https://billetto.co.uk/en/e/kimfit-6-week-strength-and-conditioning-for-runners-tickets-207302?ref=billetto-search and then the button which says ‘Buy Tickets’. You only need to purchase once for the 6-weeks. Then keep an eye out for an email from me with information about the first class.

I don’t want to get muscly or bulky. It may slow me down.

Do not fear. We will mainly be training using body weight resistance. However, you shouldn’t fear getting too big to run from strength training – check out Mo Farah, he lifts weights and has won it all. The training is designed specifically to get you strong to run rather than ‘gym’ strong.

I’m injured. Can I take part in the course?

Get in touch with me. I’ll need to know the nature of the injury or niggle before I can give you the go ahead. Email me at thekimfitway@gmail.com.

I really hope I’ve covered everything you might be wondering. If not please do not hesitate to email me and ask absolutely anything you’re not sure on. I can’t wait to see some of you on the 1st August!
