The Values Behind KimFit

It’s been a while since I blogged about what KimFit stands for. As we approach our second birthday (woo!!) I thought I’d give readers a run-down of what we’re about at KimFit. It’s rather simple really, the main goals are to educate, energise and empower people on their own health and fitness journey. Below are the core values KimFit stands for and aims to convey across all platforms and client-facing delivery. If photographs are more your thing you might want to head over to my IG as I’ve been running a mini-series on my values over Easter.

H O N E S T Y

Honesty is no. 1. As a person, I simply cannot be bothered with nonsense or time-wasting. I’m sort of a say it in as few words as possible sort of person! So, I pledge to you to ‘keep it real’ always. My advice and content will be genuine and authentic, I will believe in it. I will also be vulnerable with you, share my failures and struggles as well as my achievements. In return, I hope you will adopt a realistic idea of health, fitness and wellness and be able to share your challenges with me.

I enjoy exercise; but I know not everyone does. I aim to spread the joy I get from a workout with clients by taking the time to understand what will make exercise enjoyable. Maybe it is by associating it with a positive act towards yourself, or it being a time to shed the baggage of the day. I am no boot camp style PT, you won’t hear me being aggressive in my encouragement. You can train and not feel like you’ve been through the ringer; walk away without wincing. To me happiness and enjoyment from exercise comes from getting closer to achieving my goals and I aim to create this sense of fulfilment with clients also.

I am ‘not your average PT’. My hope is that as a GB skeleton athlete (that one where you go headfirst on a tea tray!), my story and experiences serve to inspire my clients. Not that everybody can be an international athlete, because that’s not the case (see, told you I am honest). But to inspire them to believe that they can step out of their comfort zone, say no to settling and be brave to make a change and chase a goal. In my opinion hard-work equals rewards and this is to be supported and encouraged in the pursuit of a goal.

A personal trainer is primarily there to support the client. I have done my job well if I can help you to develop a relationship with health that is positive and sustainable. I feel most rewarded when I can support another person’s ambition; be part of their team and share the journey with them. I aim to acknowledge barriers and find a way to overcome and to fuel training and exercise with positivity rather than hate or guilt. Hard work is to be encouraged, I will direct kindness in your direction to help you hit those goals.

I share my ambition with the world (it’s to win an Olympic medal in 2022!). It’s lofty and it certainly won’t be easy but there it is. I’ll use lessons I have learned to help you discover your ambition and maintain the drive to get there; even on the bad days.  With ambition also comes reality; I struggle with the balance between ambition and reality. For example, what I want versus what is possible; I can’t be perfect all the time! I have lots of ways I manage my time and energy to ensure I am moving towards both business and personal goals; amongst all this are solutions that come in handy with clients too.
