Get Real with Kimberley: Mindfulness

Do you find it hard to switch off? Constantly thinking about your to-do list? Always striving to do that bit more? Guilty. I do. My head is constantly buzzing. Constantly. What do I need to do to be ready for training tomorrow? What posts do I need to schedule for KimFit? When can I work on my sponsor proposal? How am I going to get clients for KimFit? How am I going to afford  a, b, c? The problem here…

Get Real with Kimberley: Truth

I saw this meme a while back and it literally sums up my whole attitude to the fitness industry so perfectly I had to use it. I, of course am the fairy godmother in this meme. Poor cinderella represents the hundreds (thousands probably) of girls that believe there is a quick fix to getting the body they want. IT MAKES ME SO MAD. Honestly, people ask me all the time what is my secret? Train, six days a week for…

Get Real with Kimberley: Self-love

I saw this on Instagram (@kimfitbath) and instantly LOVED it! It is so so easy to focus on areas of improvement whether that be personality, looks, career etc etc but how often do you stop, take stock and actually identify things you LIKE about yourself!!? Plus it’s Valentine’s Day (or it was when I wrote this blog) so it’s the perfect excuse to spread the love! ❣ It’s great to strive to improve but I know that I am always…

Get Real with Kimberley: R+R

This is a blog about the importance of rest and recovery. I wrote it last year on holiday … I’ve just taken my first holiday abroad in six years…. I know what you’re all thinking “she’s on a plane every other weekend, six years! Lies.” 😂😂 Yes, I’m a frequent traveller. Yes I have also had time off from training in the past six years. But training camps (even warm warm weather athletic ones) do not count as holidays. Getting on…

Get Real with Kimberley: Nutrition (again)

Hi! So in part 1 I hopefully provided some basic nutrition education which has maybe changed the way you perceive your diet. I guess what I was trying to get across the eating is good and food is good, you just need to know what to pick. Healthy is not a size 6, 8, 10 etc. Health is … ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’ Thanks World Health…

Get Real with Kimberley: Nutrition

First things first. We eat to fuel our bodies for life. Depriving yourself of certain foods or restricting food intake is NOT I repeat NOT sustainable and will not lead to long term wellness. Likewise, skinny teas, fat loss pills/supplements will not result in good health. Your diet (what you eat) should be consistent day in day out more or less. Because that’s the best way to maintain and achieve healthy. Of course, consistently eating pizza or MacDonalds every day…

Get Real with Kimberley: #squad

Post core #squad struggles! Before I moved to Bath I trained for skeleton solo. Not because that is what I prefer but because I was on a programme that only I was doing. Since starting skeleton I gradually moved away from training with my lovely jumps group in Edinburgh simply because we weren’t doing the same work or even structure anymore and I missed it a lot. My training group were split up across the country; all of us still…

Getting started is one the most difficult things when you make a change. Are you always thinking I’d like to try yoga, running, HITT, spin etc. but never quite get round to going to a class? Do you scroll wistfully through Insta thinking how amazing those dishes of food look but never actually make them? Or are you simply a bit fed up and demotivated with life and want to change it?
